The Teacher's Edition contains 165 lessons that include discussion
guides, easy to do demonstrations and activities, teacher-guided
experiments, and research and project ideas. These lessons are
divided into six units and a Technology section that includes one
technology lesson for each unit. Each unit consists of two or three
interrelated chapters. Most lessons include additional background
information, cross-curricular links, and scientific activities.
This teacher's edition also includes useful information about
science fairs, science process skills, and the management of
activities. Reproducibles, a materials list, and several rubrics
designed for assessing Activity and Explorations lessons are
located in the back of this manual.
Each lesson begins with relevant questions or a short activity
to focus the student on the day's lesson. The lesson provides
questions to help the student comprehend what he has read. This
discussion provides an auditory reinforcement of key ideas. The
higher-level thinking questions (marked with the light bulb icon)
help the student apply the information that he has read by relating
it to previous knowledge and everyday situations.
Included in the teacher's manual is a Suggested schedule, a
