The reason that we named our program "Algebra: A CompleteCourse," is that we believe the best way to learn Algebra is tostart at the beginning and end at the end! In this program you willfind a complete study of the essential material covered in atraditional Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 course.

However, we need to continue a little furtherwith this answer because Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 are terms thatrefer mostly to the traditional way that Algebra has been taught.Traditional Algebra 1 classes attempt to cover most of Algebra inthe first year, but the methods that are used, and the speed withwhich the material is covered, hinders student understandingof the material. Instead, the student is just exposed to memorizingrules, formulas, tricks, and shortcuts. By the time they get towhat is called an Algebra 2 course, (sometimes after theytake a Geometry course), they have forgotten almost all of theAlgebra that they memorized. So, that Algebra 2 course(which is by definition, a rehash of whatever has been calledAlgebra 1), must repeat practically all of the Algebra 1course. In fact, it usually repeats a lot of the Pre-Algebramaterial as well. This is usually referred to as the "spiralmethod" of learning, and it is not very effective inhelping students to excel, especially at this level ofmathematics.

We think that this huge overlap is generallyunproductive, and largely unnecessary if the concepts are taughtanalytically. Therefore we call our program "Algebra: A CompleteCourse," because we employ a mastery-learning approach, sometimesmoving at a slower pace, but without the overlap. As a result,students often complete the course even more quickly.

When a studentcompletes Geometry: A CompleteCourse along with Algebra: A CompleteCourse, thepublisher states that the student will gain four mathcredits - Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Honors Geometry and Pre-Calculus.

Every lesson in DIVE Algebra 2 (2nd and 3rd edition) is taughtstep-by-step on a digital whiteboard by Dr. Shormann. It is justlike being in a real classroom, except there is no teacher in theway.
