Using this
outline and the recommended resources you and your shipmates can
explore piracy as part of world history by plundering through the
activities , books, lessons, and other "buried treasure"
offered in this book by Jennifer Steward.
This
guide is geared for grades K-8, are written from a
Christian perspective, and are uniquely designed for home
educators. It contains a study outline with suggestions and enough
information for at least a four-week study. The assignments are
arranged by subject, including composition, handwriting, geography,
Bible, spelling and vocabulary, and history or science. Contains a
list of beginner and intermediate spelling and vocabulary words, a
resource list, and an appendix containing reproducible pages to go
with assignments. Some planning is needed.
Only 2
elements are required- however Jennifer lists tons of other titles
for supplements, great reading, and activites.
1. Treasure
island - the "read aloud" by Robert Louis Stevenson.
2.
A
Notebook - a folder or 3-ring binder that becomes the
"notebook project" for each student to collect their work
in. The goal is to make something tangible from
material learned.
Other
suggested resources include the Treasure Island Coloring Book, the
Pirates and Buccaneers Coloring book, and Kingfisher
Pirates.
